Goldfinger, third Connery’s Bond movie, improved on a formula from its predecessors, introduced all of the series trademarks and set a template for every future Bond movie. With a bigger budget than two previous movies in the Bond franchise, Goldfinger had it all. Best 007 movie with Sean Connery and one of the best in the series.
From Russia With Love is an improvement on every level from Dr. No. It was a first Bond film with the musical title sequence and featured the first appearances of Q and Blofeld. Although it had a bigger budget than Dr. No, From Russia With Love is more of a thrilling Cold War thriller than a big-budget action spectacle.
Although not the best Bond film and not as amusing or thrilling as some of the best entrances in the franchise, Dr. No is a solid action thriller and introduction to agent 007 with great casting choice in Sean Connery for the lead and iconic theme song but that feels outdated with poor and unconvincing action scenes.
Your opinion about Birds Of Prey will depend on your opinion about Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. I didn’t like her, but even if I did, it is still a movie that desperately wants to be different, weird, and wacky but it fails. It is a colorful cartoon without much to say, with a weak script peppered with ultra-violence.
Filled with mediocre performances, bad jokes, bland villains, paper-thin characters, dull action sequences, and soap opera level story, Bad Boys For Life is a dumbest and worst movie of the year so far.
With its non-linear structure, interesting story, memorable characters, funny dialogues, very good soundtrack, excellent performances from the cast and energetic directing style, The Gentlemen is well worth your time. The main problem with The Gentlemen is that Ritchie made this type of movie a couple of times before.
Well-shot, directed, acted and written, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is an interesting and sometimes funny dark comedy/drama with excellent performances from Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell.
Logan is a different superhero movie that stands out from the competition – it is serious, gritty and violent R-rated (SF) action drama in which all parts are very well done. Best superhero movie of the year.
