Tenet is a big, ambitious, complex, and original, but also overlong, boring, confusing, and exhausting narrative puzzle with a mediocre script and no character development. While you can’t deny craftsmanship on a technical level, Tenet is a movie you can’t engage emotionally. In the end, I just didn’t care about the characters or what’s happening in the movie.
Slice Of Life is a solid short SF film set in a Blade Runner world. Made the old school way relying on miniatures and practical effects instead of the use of CGI, the final result is actually a very good looking movie that could put to shame much more expensive Hollywood movies. Unfortunately, Slice Of Life resembles Blade Runner only visually as it doesn’t tackle any of the themes covered in Blade Runner or its sequel.
Decent end to new apes trilogy, War of the Planet of the Apes is pretty good drama with outstanding special effects.
Logan is a different superhero movie that stands out from the competition – it is serious, gritty and violent R-rated (SF) action drama in which all parts are very well done. Best superhero movie of the year.
Justice League is an awful movie with weak story and script, paper-thin characters, unfunny jokes, awful villains, terrible visuals and boring and generic action sequences.
Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets is a beautiful, visually rich and interesting movie. So it’s a shame story, characters and actors are not on the same level.
Blade Runner 2049 is a worthy successor to cult original and very expensive R rated movie that is more an art movie masked as Hollywood SF.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is a watchable (and forgettable) superhero movie that is aimed at younger audience.
The Mummy (2017) is a really bad movie which makes Brendan Fraser Mummy look like a masterpiece.
Ghost in the shell is an adaptation of Japanese anime which tells a story about Major (Johansson), a human who is saved from a terrorist attack and is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to fighting most dangerous criminals.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is unfortunately not as good as the first one – it is a watchable and forgettable superhero movie with weak script and villains.
Prometheus sequel is an uninspired, boring mess of a movie with a bad script and dumb characters that’s not much better than AvP movies.
