Actor Wayne Knight, best known for playing unforgettable mailman Newman on Seinfeld, is celebrating his birthday today. So we decided to bring you Newman’s 20 best moments on Seinfeld.
Wayne Knight was born on August 7, 1955, in Cartersville, Georgia, USA as Wayne Eliot Knight to Grace (Monti) and William Edward Knight. He appeared in numerous famous movies in supporting roles produced at the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s, like Dirty Dancing (1987), Born on the Fourth of July (1989), JFK (1991), Basic Instinct (1992) and Jurassic Park (1993). Actually, Knight was the first actor cast by director Steven Spielberg in Jurassic Park after he saw Knight’s performance in Basic Instinct. But he will be always remembered as Seinfeld’s arch-nemesis and Kramer’s friend, postal employee Newman.
The character of Newman is first mentioned in episode 7 of season 2, called The Revenge but in that episode, we only hear Newman’s voice which was provided by Larry David. Wayne Knight made his first physical appearance as Newman on Seinfeld in episode 15 of season 3, called The Suicide. Since then, he appeared in 43 more episodes making him one of the main supporting characters on Seinfeld.
